A Parent’s Toolkit
A Resource Pack for Parents
|
A Parent’s Toolkit is a unique, user-friendly resource pack for parents of pre-school and primary school children. It has been developed in Jersey after wide consultation with parents, teachers, social workers and health professionals and is an integral part of the Island’s interagency Sexual Health Strategy. It draws together clear information, key skills, and practical tips and ideas from other parents.
The Toolkit was first published in 2002 and is currently provided free of charge to every household in Jersey with a child under the age of 12 years. Personal copies are distributed to parents by Health Visitors during the baby’s nine-month check-up; by Nurseries; and by primary schools. 20,000 copies of the new resource have been distributed to date.

The Toolkit has been welcomed by parents who find it a very practical and useful publication.
In addition, the Parent’s Toolkit was the winner of the Charted Institute of Marketing Award for Excellence in the best use of print in 2003.
’I think it is a tremendous achievement, and will have a big impact on schools. I shall certainly be asking them how they are using it – a resource like that is too good to waste.’
