Islanders are called upon to help ACET devise a new HIV Care Policy
To ensure it is meeting the needs of people living with HIV and AIDS and those affected by the condition, AIDS Care Education and Training (ACET) Jersey is calling for Islanders to participate in a survey which will help the charity to form a new HIV Care Policy.
ACET Jersey has devised the survey which will help the charity structure its support services to meet the needs of people living with HIV and AIDS. The anonymous survey, which will be treated confidentially in accordance with the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2005, can be completed online at www.acet.je. People without access to the internet can pick up a paper copy of the survey at GP surgeries, pharmacies, parish halls and other public places around the island and return completed forms to ACET Jersey in a reply-paid envelope.
"ACET Jersey is committed to helping those affected by HIV and AIDS in Jersey, regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation or any other factor that may influence people’s lifestyle choices. We want to ensure that people living with HIV in Jersey have access to the same standard of social, financial and practical support as their counterparts in the UK. As well as helping ACET Jersey to prioritise its services for people who use the charity, we hope the survey will also raise public awareness, increase the uptake of voluntary testing and improve early diagnosis rates of HIV in Jersey."
ACET Jersey is encouraging all Islanders to participate in the survey to ensure it gives a comprehensive review of people’s knowledge of HIV and AIDS.
"To ensure we are meeting Islanders’ needs we would like to encourage people, regardless of whether they have HIV themselves or know someone who has, to complete the survey. Through better understanding of HIV and AIDS we hope to end the unfair discrimination and stigma currently associated with the illness."
Any personal information given can not be linked to the survey.
