ACET's Educator
The ACET Educator is accredited by Oasis
Esteem which is part of the ACET International Alliance and a
member of the UK Sex Education Forum.
We work with schools, the youth service and churches to provide
young people with clear, accurate, up-to-date information about
HIV/AIDS, sexual health, drugs, alcohol and options for healthy
living, in appropriate and accessible forms and language.
ACET's HIV education programmes engage young people's intellect,
experience, thoughts and feelings. They create opportunities for
discussion, reflection and exploration of issues, attitudes, values
and beliefs in relation to HIV and sexual health.
ACET's Educator delivers HIV education programmes, which aim
to:
- Equip young people to resist coercion. This includes equipping
young people with a belief in their sexual health rights and the
skills to identify and avoid pressure, exploitation, abuse,
harassment and bullying.
- Support the development of healthy self-esteem.Self-esteem
plays a vital role in enabling young people to negotiate equally
and to make healthy choices and decisions.
- Develop young people's practical skills as key elements of
sexual health and related decision-making.This includes helping
young people take more control over their lives, their health and
their bodies, for example by acquiring skills such as negotiation
and assertiveness.
- Actively counter and challenge discrimination, stigma and
prejudice.
