ACET's Christian Principles

ACET Jersey is a member of the ACET International Alliance. The Alliance is a group of independent organisations around the world working to reduce the rates of new HIV infection, care for those affected by HIV/AIDS and support AIDS orphans.

Alliance members provide care, education and training to all those affected by HIV/AIDS and related issues, regardless of ethnicity, religious affiliation or any other factor.

The Alliance was founded by a young Christian doctor, Dr Patrick Dixon, in the UK in 1988 as a practical, compassionate response to the challenge of AIDS. Today you will find ACET programmes in more than 20 nations, all working together as part of the rapidly growing ACET International Alliance.

The following Christian principles are at the heart of all ACET’s services:

  • Compassionate, unconditional care for all who are affected by HIV, regardless of how they came to be so, fighting stigma and discrimination and encouraging acceptance of those with HIV.
  • Life-saving education, encouraging long-term healthy lifestyle choices, seeking to give young people confidence to resist peer pressure, and to find their own way, with messages that are clear and adapted to each audience.
  • Effective training with a holistic, culturally sensitive approach to personal and community development, strongly encouraging indigenous leadership, working closely with churches and other faith based organisations.

Everyone working for ACET is seeking to show something of the unconditional love of Christ in their work and the services they provide.
